Marnox: Well I'd rather have a defense that requires teamwork to get past than cappers in light armor that can ski faster than the grav cycle and move so fast defense and deployable turrets can't track. T2 lacks the proper blast-shadowing that was present in T1, which is my only really major gripe against the game. You'll still need highly coordinated offense to clear away the D so your team can grab, but that's been the case with base the whole time. Those of you with high-end cards can now crank up the details, and when you do, you'll find that T2 is a damn pretty game.īase, as it stands now, is pretty well balanced as base tends to go.
TRIBES 2 UPDATE PATCH
I know I got a nice framerate boost from the patch at the very least. I can't say I've run into any rendering problems on my setup (GF2 Pro, latest Dets, XP, 1.1 GHz T-bird). However, TR2 is a great diversion to have at a LAN party, especially if you've got six to ten people. The patch also included Team Rabbit 2, which is fun, but doesn't have many servers out there. (Reversion is the prime example that comes readily to mind.)

Classic aslo makes some of the 'crappier' maps that originally shipped with T2 a lot faster-paced. It's not exactly like T1, but it's close enough to make it damn fun.

The final patch included Classic, which is good for those of you looking for more T1-type feel. No hate here, none whatsoever, <3 all.Įdit: LimpBagel, if you use ASE (hell even the Tribes2 internal browser) you can easily filter for base servers, a few of my favourites are ( - Necrosis and 212.122.148.114:28004

Gist of it Tribes2 adds so much over Tribes, is a blast to play and fuck all who oppose me cowboy capturing and base rape make me furious and a pox upon all of you who've participated in such things. I absolutely hate one person being able to capture the flag and win the game by his lonesome, it takes a huge portion of the teamwork out of the game not to mention heavies skiing into my base not 10 seconds after I've switched from my default equipment and raping everything with mortars is a huge source of frustration and agitation when playing Tribes/Tribes2 Classic. And one factor that is important to me is that in base Tribes2 (not Tribes2 Classic, which I greatly dislike) is that it is very very difficult for a single person to capture the opposing team's flag without assistance, be it from using a shrike/grav cycle or help from teammates in the form of a bombing run or base sterilization from a tank. I have never fealt for a second that Tribes2 is slow paced, even after going back and playing Tribes. First, the amazing UI, one of the best I've ever used in all my years of gaming second, tons of great additions to the gameplay such as new packs for the players to use, ability to modify existing base turrets for different types of firepower, deployables such as turrets and sensors, new vehicles (I absolutely love running over people in my Beowulf assault tank). From much reading about the two and from my own personal experiences, Tribes was a slow-paced, methodical FPS (compared to others) until skiing was discovered/exploited. So, I'm of the opinion that Tribes2 is far superior to Tribes (and I just know I'll get flamed for saying that).

I've played both Tribes and Tribes 2, but for clarity's sake I played Tribes2 before Tribes and only started playing Tribes2 since the rerelease patch (meaning I personally never dealt with any bugs).
